Mission Statement for RTH Support

The “RTH” in RTH Support stands for:

  • Restore your equilibrium and faith in yourself

  • Transform your life and your view of the world

  • Heal past hurts and traumas to move forward with positivity

These principles form the foundation of all our work. As a Community Interest Company and Not-for-Profit organisation, every effort we make and every donation we receive is dedicated to providing more help where it is needed most.

Our Aim
We strive to provide affordable and accessible psychotherapy to survivors of domestic abuse and their children, as well as to individuals in rural communities who are struggling with their mental health.

Our Work in Domestic Abuse (DA)

Survivors of domestic abuse often receive invaluable support through agencies like Shropshire Domestic Abuse Service (SDAS). However, there is frequently little to no funding available to cover psychotherapy for these clients. Many survivors face displacement from their families for safety reasons, have limited financial resources, and are in urgent need of therapeutic interventions to rebuild their lives and create a positive future for themselves and their children.

The barriers to accessing therapy are significant:

  • Lengthy NHS waiting lists, which can extend up to 18 months or longer, especially for children

  • Limited availability of free services that specialise in trauma

  • Lack of flexibility in accessing services, such as rigid hours or online-only options

At RTH Support, we aim to eliminate these barriers by offering a non-means-tested, pay-what-you-can-afford model. Survivors can access therapy in the format that best suits their needs—whether face-to-face, online, by phone, or through walk & talk sessions. We provide therapy at times and days that work for our clients, enabling them to fully benefit from their sessions while balancing family and life responsibilities.

Our Work in Rural Communities

Social isolation is a well-documented factor contributing to mental health decline and, tragically, suicide. Physical isolation in rural areas often limits access to support services, particularly during crises. Farm workers, gamekeepers, and veterinary surgeons face additional pressures that can significantly impact their mental health.

A government report, Rural Mental Health (May 2023), highlights a range of risks and challenges exacerbating mental health issues in rural communities. These include the impacts of COVID-19, Brexit, the war in Ukraine, labour shortages, retailer power, economic shocks, financial uncertainty, succession planning, isolation, and the rising cost of living.

At RTH Support, we aim to address these challenges by offering a non-means-tested, pay-what-you-can-afford model of therapy. Clients can choose the format that best suits their needs—face-to-face, online, by phone, or walk & talk therapy. Sessions are available at times that work for rural lifestyles, enabling clients to fully benefit from therapy while accommodating their unique circumstances.

In addition to regular therapy, we also provide:

  • Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) interventions to deliver timely psychological support after critical incidents.

  • Mental Health and Wellbeing training to enhance resilience and equip individuals and communities with the tools to manage stress and promote wellbeing.
